[Fundraiser] PhD Fieldwork & Conference Costs
I have set up a fundraiser on gofundme to help raise money towards some of the costs of conducting fieldwork as part of the first year of my PhD and conference costs. If you would like to support my research, please consider donating and/or sharing widely!
[TEACH OUT] Decolonising Anthropology & Decentering Expertise
Wednesday 4th March 2020 at Goldsmiths Students’ Union, UK
On Wednesday 4th March 2020 I will be co-facilitating a teach out with Dr Gabriel Dattatreyan as part of the UCU strikes. From 3-4pm, we will be facilitating a collective reading of Sami Schalk’s BodyMinds Regimagined: (Dis)ability, Race and Gender in Black Women’s Speculative Fiction (2018) as a way of collectively reimagining what Anthropology is and what it could be. In the last hour, 4-5pm, I will be facilitating a ‘decentering expertise’ session which includes 3 undergraduate talks on lived experiences, research & interests, and will be followed by a short discussion on what it means to be an “expert” and who is regarded as an “expert”, and how we can decenter ideas of academic expertise as well as the discipline of anthropology.
